About Us

Weeks' main office, hybridizing greenhouses, display/test garden, own-root prop houses, grading, packing and shipping facilities are all located in Upland, California; while our production growing grounds are located in Wasco, California, in the middle of the San Joaquin Valley. Weeks has over 1,200 acres of production facilities in the same area as many of the other major rose producers. Wasco has a good deep loamy soil, plentiful clean well water and a natural climate that fits commercial rose production particularly well. In Wasco we can produce strong healthy bushes that ship easily and adapt well to most any climate in the United States.

Beginning in early December, Weeks ships over four million bareroot roses throughout the United States. Immediately following harvest, roses are carefully graded and packed in strong boxes at our Upland facility. We ship in temperature-controlled trucks, where applicable, either directly to our customers or to strategically located cold storage warehouses.

Weeks' Research Department, under the direction of Tom Carruth since 1988, is dedicated to bringing you the best in all types of proven older roses and new rose varieties—whether from our own hybridizing efforts or from international breeding firms or amateur stateside breeders.

| |
Each year at our research greenhouse in Upland, California, we hand-pollinate about 35,000 flowers to produce around 200,000 seeds. After a thorough 8 to 10 year evaluation period, culminating with the All-America Rose Selections (AARS) Trials, only about 3 or 4 varieties emerge from the group as truly superior and market-worthy.

Weeks has had 11 AARS Winners to emerge from our new hybridizing work. Tom Carruth's AARS Winners include: Two AARS Winners, JULIA CHILD and WILD BLUE YONDER (2006); ABOUT FACE (2005); MEMORIAL DAY (2004); HOT COCOA (2003); two AARS Winners, BETTY BOOP and FOURTH OF JULY (1999) and Tom Carruth's first AARS winner in 1997 was SCENTIMENTAL. Our 1998 Winner, SUNSET CELEBRATION was from Fryer's Roses in England; ST. PATRICK, from amateur Frank Strickland; and LIVIN' EASY™, from the English firm of Harkness, won the coveted AARS Award in 1996. In the years to come, we will be bringing you many more excellent roses to grace your gardens.

While we do no direct consumer selling, our roses are widely available at most nurseries and garden centers across the United States.
