Our Journey

The Legacy of Weeks Roses: Growing Excellence Since 1938

What started as a simple hobby on a single acre with a rented plow and one determined horse quickly blossomed into something extraordinary. In 1938, Ollie and Verona Weeks planted the seeds of what would become Weeks Roses, one of the largest and most respected commercial rose growers in the United States. For nearly 50 years, they nurtured the company with passion and dedication before retiring in 1985. Today, their legacy lives on as Weeks Roses continues to uphold its reputation for excellence—proudly known as “Tops in Roses.”

Weeks Roses is not just about plants; it’s about people. Our team, from the fields to the office, shares a deep-rooted commitment to growing the finest roses in the industry. In 2011, we expanded our family by partnering with Gardens Alive, and in 2024, we joined forces with Neuhouse Farms—strengthening our ability to bring breathtaking, high-quality roses to gardeners nationwide.

Innovation in Every Bloom

At Weeks, rose breeding is both an art and a science. Our research team, led by renowned hybridizer Christian Bedard, is dedicated to developing new and exceptional rose varieties. Each year, we pollinate approximately 50,000 flowers, producing nearly 250,000 seeds. After an 8–10-year evaluation, only a select four or five varieties prove superior enough to be introduced to the market. This rigorous process ensures that every new rose we release is truly special.

A Rose for Every Garden

We offer one of the widest selections of roses available—Hybrid Teas & Grandifloras, Floribundas, Climbers, Shrubs, Miniatures, Tree Roses, and AARS award winners. Whether budded or own root, each rose is propagated using methods that maximize its beauty, hardiness, and performance in gardens across the country. Southern gardeners will be pleased to know that we also grow selected varieties on Fortuniana understock, ensuring robust growth in warmer climates.

From Our Fields to Your Garden

Nestled in Wasco, California—a prime location for rose growing—our 1,200-acre production facility thrives in rich, loamy soil with plentiful clean water and an ideal climate. This allows us to cultivate strong, healthy rose bushes that adapt well to diverse environments across the United States.

Every winter, from December through mid-February, we ship over four million bareroot roses nationwide. Each rose is carefully graded, packed, and shipped in temperature-controlled conditions to ensure it arrives in peak condition at nurseries and garden centers near you.

Experience the Weeks Difference

As a wholesale grower, we don’t sell directly to consumers, but our roses can be found at nurseries, garden centers, and select mail-order retailers across the country. Wherever you find a Weeks Rose, you’ll find a plant that’s been grown with care, expertise, and a passion for perfection.

For over 85 years, Weeks Roses has been setting the standard for excellence in the rose industry. With every bloom, we continue our founders’ vision—bringing beauty, innovation, and quality to gardens everywhere.
